About VoidNote
VoidNote is a light paste service for encrypted text storage and one time viewing.
Built it with Flask and the Python cryptography library, it supports AES GCM and Fernet encryption methods.
Notes can be stored, locked, and self destruct after decryption. ¬_¬
Encryption Modes
Client Side
Encryption happens entirely in your browser using PBKDF2 with SHA two five six and AES GCM.
The server never sees your key material.
MirrorLock
Combines two independent passphrases one from the author and one from the receiver to generate a shared encryption key.
Both are required to decrypt successfully.
Fernet
The server generates a symmetric key and appends it to the link as a query parameter.
The message decrypts and self-destructs after one view. >_>
Recommendations
- Use Client Side for full zero knowledge encryption.
- Use MirrorLock for dual authentication between sender and receiver.
- Use Fernet for quick, disposable sharing.
- Each note should have a unique passphrase burned notes are gone forever.
